If you’re looking for a unique VW Camper, then this 2006 Air-cooled Kombi may very well tick all your boxes.
Whilst Danbury were the main importers and converters of Brazilian T2s into the UK over the last 20 years, a number of Kombis came over via smaller companies. They chose to offer an alternative to the Danbury conversion and here is a great example of such a camper. The obvious difference is the style of roof conversion. The pop top fitted to this Air-cooled VW is a replica of the traditional Westfalia roof, as seen on thousands of VW Campers from the 1960s – 1970s. Simple to operate, raising the triangle shaped roof creates an upper bed for 2 to sleep in comfortably. The colour coordinated roof canvas, which is made of tough sailcloth, is durable, waterproof and easy to keep clean.
The Turquoise under White paintwork of the exterior is in great condition and is complemented by blue cloth upholstery and blue checked curtains.
You’ll find a well thought out beech conversion inside that runs the full nearside length of the Kombi. It has great storage including a cupboard to the rear and tea cloth holders. There are a built-in gas hob and fridge which is powered by both gas and electricity. Further, there is a buddy box, which folds out to enable 4 to sit around the removable table, which is stored behind the passenger seat. At the rear of the cabin is a useful overhead storage locker. Pulling the handles on the rear seat causes it to transform into a comfortable 3/4 size bed for 2.
This Kombi carries 4 comfortably, up front the driver and passenger seats have 3 point seat-belts, with lap belts fitted to the rear. We can install 3 point seat belts if required.
Another handy feature of this T2 is the gas-powered rear heater – easy to use and perfect for taking the chill off those winter camping trips.
The Air-cooled engine in this camper is legendary, its design hasn’t changed much from its inception. The bonus of a late model Kombi is how efficiently the Air-cooled unit runs with the modern ignition, fuel injection and governing ECU. A catalytic converter keeps the emissions low. No more poor idling due to carburettors!!
The camper has plenty of carrying ability within the buddy box, under the rear seat, within the cupboards and in the boot. The spare wheel is located on the front of the camper with a black vinyl cover. You could increase this Kombi’s carrying ability by fitting a classic style roof rack or even a tow bar to pull a box trailer or to attach a bike carrier. Please ask us for more details.
Its proven Air-cooled engine has that traditional sound and ensures reliability with low running costs. The 48bhp 1.6 motors can return upwards of 25mpg.
