We are delighted to see this Sage Green 2008 Danbury Rio back in our showroom. We’ve had the pleasure of selling it before, and when we did, we upgraded it with a host of attractive and useful options. But more about those later. This is a great condition Kombi with exceptionally low mileage for its age. Its colour scheme gives it a very classic look. Chrome hubcaps and mirrors, clear front indicators, white bumpers and a wooden cab roof rack are all reminiscent of the Early VW Bay era from the late 1960s. An option worth considering would be painting the steel wheels white and adding white-banded tyres – for a proper Californian look! One thing a Classic T2 wouldn’t have had back in the 1960s is the EPAS system that this Kombi does. This is speed sensitive power steering that makes the camper a breeze to manoeuvre at low speeds and in tight spots. Once the road speed picks up, the electronic assistance dissipates. We treated this camper to an interior upgrade the last time we prepared it for its next owner. The seats and door cards now sport stylish easy clean vinyl in a delightful combination of mint green and cream. Further the cab area has fitted grey carpeting and the rear cabin floor has a wipe clean vinyl floor in light grey. Incidentally the driver’s seat can be swivelled around for greater flexibility when pitched. This Kombi carries 4 comfortably, up front the driver and passenger seats have 3 point seatbelts, the rear has 2 lap belts. If required we can install 3 point seat belts to the rear, at extra cost. The Rio conversion means a 3/4 width bed combined with multiple cupboards with the spare wheel stored under a felt cover to the nearside rear. Raising the pop top creates a full 4 berth camper, or simply an excellent storage area when pitched. Many Danbury T2 owners use this space to locate things when first arriving on a campsite! The Rio unit contains all you would need for a camping adventure – twin hob with grill, sink with electrically pumped cold water plus a low power fridge. There’s the useful option of a tow bar. This enables the fitment of a bike carrier or even the option of towing a box trailer – effectively extending the camper’s carrying ability. Its modern water-cooled engine ensures reliability and low running costs. The 80bhp 1.4 motor can return upwards of 35mpg. Further features are: VW factory fitted immobiliser. Low power strip lights and rear spotlights in the cabin. Removable table with pedestal fixing and matching leg. 12v camping electrics featuring on-the-go charging, 240v when on hook-up. Leisure battery condition meter. 2 x twin 13 amp plugs for use when on hook-up. Custom curtains. Front and rear heated screens. Ipod Radio with 4 speakers. Front cab heater with variable speed fan. Rear cabin heater. Fire extinguisher. Every camper we sell goes through a PDI check, a full valet, is serviced, and comes with a new MOT and a 3 month warranty.
