Description

The majority of Brazilian T2s seen on UK roads over the last 20 years, were imported and converted by Danbury in Bristol.  However a small number were also brought in by independents such as ourselves and VW Downunder.  Here’s one of their Kombis in Mango Green under White fitted with a classic style pop top, resembling the most popular roof ever used on the T2, the Westfalia.  In keeping with the retro look this camper has white bumpers, chrome mirrors and cream wheels.

Driving this VW is a treat, as it has been upgraded with rack and pinion steering, giving it car-like characteristics on the open road.

It carries 5 comfortably on its durable brown vinyl seats; up front the driver and passenger seats have 3 point seatbelts, with 3 lap belts fitted to the rear.  We can install further 3 point seat belts there if required. Raising the pop-top furthers the practicality as occupants can then stand up within the rear cabin, and it becomes a 4 berth camper, by folding out the upper bed boards. The interior conversion features full width beds above and below.  Flipping the matching buddy seat open enables 5 to sit within the camper around the removable table.

VW Downunder fitted a Vanwurks unit here and it contains all you would need for a camping adventure – gas twin hob with grill, sink with electrically pumped cold water and fridge.

The camper has plenty of carrying ability inside the buddy box, under the rear seat and in the boot.  It also has a rare storage unit above the rear squab which provides the storage place for the removable table.  The spare wheel is located on the nearside in the boot.

You could increase this Kombi’s carrying capability by fitting a tow bar, to which you can then add a bike carrier or even tow a small trailer.  (NB: you cannot pull a trailer at the same time as using the bike carrier.)

Its modern water-cooled engine ensures reliability and low running costs.  The 80bhp 1.4 motor can return upwards of 35mpg.

Further features are:

VW factory fitted immobiliser.

Low power strip lights and rear spotlights in the cabin.

Removable table with pedestal fixing and matching leg.

12v camping electrics featuring on-the-go charging, 240v when on hook-up.

1 x 13 amp plug for use when on hook-up.

Contrasting curtains.

Front and rear heated screens.

Radio with 4 speakers.

Fire extinguisher.

Every camper we sell goes through a PDI check, a full valet, is serviced, and comes with a new MOT and a 3 month warranty.
