This 2016 Danbury Diamond is nothing short of spectacular!! As it’s one of the last Brazilian Kombis to be converted by the Bristol manufacturer, and with such low mileage, this is as close as you’ll find to a brand new VW T2 campervan. Consider how a number of items, such as the table leg are still in their protective wrapping and you’ll appreciate how little use this Kombi’s single owner has made of it!! So it’s time for a new owner to take the steering wheel and put this campervan out on the open road where it will be admired by many!
It’s unusual to find a Kombi in metallic silver and this contrasts wonderfully with the factory white of the roof, bumpers and mirrors. Even better are the fabulous 17” Porsche style alloys, which sit on lowered suspension, giving the camper a more sporty stance. Chrome headlamp rings, an aluminium side step and clear front indicator lenses finish the look.
Things are just as good inside. There you’ll find matching grey cloth upholstery across all seats, the included buddy box and onto all the interior door panels. There’s a classy hand-made wooden steering wheel and fitted carpets throughout. A roof mounted entertainment console is there to keep rear passengers occupied on journeys, or perhaps the whole crew after an evening meal on camp.
This Kombi carries 5 comfortably, up front the driver and passenger seats have 3 point seatbelts, the rear has 3 lap belts. We can install 3 point seat belts there if required. Raising the pop-top and unfolding the included bed boards, turns it into a 4 berth camper – 2 up, 2 down. The Diamond conversion means a full width bed for the lower cabin. Flipping the buddy seat open enables 5 to sit within the cabin around the removable table.
The Diamond unit, built in the latest style from Danbury, contains all you would need for a camping adventure – twin hob with grill, sink with electrically pumped cold water, custom chopping board and a low power fridge.
The camper has plenty of storage space within the buddy box, under the rear seat and in the boot. The spare wheel is carried on the offside rear in a black vinyl cover. You could increase this Kombi’s carrying capability by fitting a tow bar and attaching a box trailer or a bike carrier. A classic style wooden roof rack over the cab would look fantastic.
Its modern water-cooled engine ensures reliability and low running costs. The 80bhp 1.4 motor can return upwards of 35mpg.
